That's Life with Barbie Davidson

Although based in Auckland, many of you may have seen the members of “That’s Life” at previous jazz festivals in the Bay of Islands. They have had a long association with this jazz festival, playing in bands like the BBC band, Jazz-a-Plenty, Dr Jaz, Georgian Jazz Gentleman to name a few. The band members have supported many artists from New Orleans during this time.

Jeff Smith heads up the band on vocals and keyboards, with Gavin Law on trumpet and sax. Harvey Win provides the solid beat and rhythm on the drums, supported by Chris Sang on six-string bass and U-Bass.

This year “That’s Life” are delighted to have the support of the vibrant vocals of Barbie Davidson.

Barbie has received the “Best performer award in the Ricky May tradition” at the Brisbane Jazz Festival. She’s been described as a dynamic singer with a marvellous feel for her audience. She has appeared on both the Hudson and Halls TV show and the Good Morning TV Shows when they featured jazz/torch singers. She has performed with the Ross Hurley Swing Band, the Queen City Big Band in Auckland, and is no stranger to the Northland music scene, having performed with the Basin City Big Band, and featured in bands at the Bay of Islands Jazz and Blues Festival and Hokianga Country Music Festival in previous years.

“We’ll be playing a mix of jazz, blues and mainstream that is bound to suit everyone’s taste. Come along to the festival and settle in for the weekend for some easy listening music.

See you there.”
