Lazy Fifty

Lazy Fifty's music harks back to 70s blues rock, enhanced with a healthy dose of funk, rocking rhythms and impressive guitar.

Although a youngster in the New Zealand blues scene Lazy Fifty has already claimed their place as festival favourites playing the Big Blues Up (2017/18), the Rotorua Blues Festival (2017) and Blues and Roots on 35 (2016/2017).

A tight three piece band with two male vocalists and an extensive set of original songs, the band - hailing from Gisborne - is Adrian Athy (guitar/vocals), Trevor Shaskey (drums/vocals) and Ryan Raggett (bass guitar).

Our name Lazy Fifty comes from the saying of an old friend. When he asked you for a ‘Lazy 20’, you knew you’d never see it again. That was a long time ago and our friend is no longer with us. In memory of him, and allowing for inflation, we are now ‘Lazy 50’.

We are really looking forward to entertaining you at the Bay of Islands Jazz and Blues Festival. You can also catch Adrian and Trevor in The Latitude Blues Band.
